For the past three years, this elderly woman had been living with bilateral mature cataracts. Her vision deteriorated gradually until she was unable to recognize faces, move independently, or contribute to her family’s daily life. Her condition not only caused immense hardship for herself but also placed a burden on her caregivers.
She was brought to Noor-e-Shifa Foundation’s Eye Care Center, where our doctors diagnosed her with advanced cataracts in both eyes. As part of our Free Cataract Surgery Program, she underwent phacoemulsification surgery on her left eye. The procedure was conducted with modern equipment and professional post-operative care, at no cost to her family.
Just minutes after the surgery, she opened her eyes to a world she had not seen clearly for years. With tears of joy, she expressed gratitude, saying she could now “see everything.” The successful operation not only restored her vision but also her confidence, independence, and ability to live with dignity.
This transformation is more than medical — it’s life-changing. Noor-e-Shifa Foundation’s commitment to fighting preventable blindness brings hope to individuals who have lost sight due to poverty and lack of access to healthcare. By restoring vision, we are restoring futures.
